William Chris Vineyards is known for our fortified Roussanne dessert wine, but with the 2016 vintage’s exceptional fruit, the team crafted our very first dry Roussanne. This Rhône varietal is rising star in Texas, it grows incredibly well in the High Plains AVA because of its resiliency and versatility, especially in difficult growing conditions. La Pradera Vineyards is planted over limestone giving white wines an elegant minerality unique to the Texas High Plains terroir. The wine is oak fermented to bring out a creamy texture and mouthfeel that is distinctive of Roussanne. Enjoy this wine while you can, hail storms in the Texas High Plains eliminated the possibility of a 2017 vintage.
Golden in color, the aromas are clean with light colored fruits, honeysuckle, and melon. Bright citrus carries over from the nose to the palate. Honeydew, melon and a creaminess round out the mouthfeel. The minerality of the Texas High Plains are certainly prevalent. Drink now through 2020, possibly longer!
