As a producer of some of the finest wine grapes in the Texas High Plains AVA, Andy Timmons, owner/farmer/grower of Lost Draw Vineyards, is a long-time friend of William Chris Vineyards. This block of Malbec is now 7 years old and sits at roughly 3,300 feet elevation. This vintage reflects the limestone it is grown over and is more tannic and bare bodied than a typical Malbec. The grape itself grows best at high elevation in the Texas climate because higher elevation leads to higher tannins and thicker skins; both of which are characteristics of a high quality wine. Cellar for 5-10 years at minimum.
Saturated purple tint with viscous legs holding onto the glass. Bold blackberry, chile spice, and venison jerky on the nose. The palate has a large personality with nuanced depth including salted caramel with ripe berries. A well-integrated tannic structure that gives a promising cellar potential.
